Introduction to the Ocean Energy and Equipment Construction Branch of the China Pacific Society
The China Association for Science and Technology of the Pacific is a national first-level society and a national-level social organization in the marine field of the Pacific region. It is dedicated to advocating and organizing marine organizations and marine workers from various countries in the Pacific region to carry out cross-regional, cross-industry, and interdisciplinary cooperation, and jointly take action and organize research on major issues in the marine field. The registration authority of the China Association for Science and Technology of the Pacific is the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and the supervising authority is the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China (formerly under the State Oceanic Administration).
The Marine Energy and Equipment Construction Branch of the China Association for Science and Technology of the Pacific (hereinafter referred to as the Branch) is affiliated with the China Association for Science and Technology of the Pacific and is a professional academic organization.
The Branch is an industrial, national, and non-profit social organization voluntarily formed by experts and scholars from (including but not limited to) marine energy and equipment research and production units, national defense science and technology industrial enterprises and institutions, colleges and universities, and military research institutions.
The purpose of the Branch is to implement the strategic vision of building a strong maritime nation as outlined in the Party's "19th National Congress," promote the in-depth development of civil-military integration in the field of marine energy and equipment construction, promote comprehensive progress in China's marine energy industry and equipment construction, promote extensive exchanges of marine culture, economy, and technology in the Pacific region, unite and organize experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs from relevant fields and industries engaged in marine energy research and equipment manufacturing research, carry out scientific and technological exchanges and theoretical discussions, and contribute to the development of the "Belt and Road" initiative and win-win cooperation in the Pacific region.
The Branch has six major characteristics:
1. High-end professional innovation platform. It combines marine economic research with marine scientific and technological research, marine theoretical research with marine experimental science, and marine energy research with marine equipment construction, making it the best platform for integrated innovation.
2. Civil-military integration characteristics. It includes both military experts, scholars, and personnel from equipment departments, as well as local experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs; it features both military technology and projects "transferring from military to civilian use," and local technology and projects "civilian participation in military."
3. Integration of industry, academia, and research. It includes representatives from military and local energy units and marine energy enterprises, as well as representatives from first-class universities and key research institutions, including the chief designer of China's domestically-built aircraft carrier.
4. Cross-boundary. Members and units involve the political, military, academic, and business sectors.
5. Wide-ranging. Representatives come from marine energy, navy and marine equipment, materials, shipbuilding (submarines), steel refining, cyberspace and information, marine observation, satellite communications, and military fields and industries, especially for the first time combining the two major fields of marine energy and marine equipment.
6. Internationalization. International academic activities are organized annually.
The scope of business activities of the Branch mainly includes eight aspects:
1. Conduct research on marine energy and equipment construction. Through industry-academia-research cooperation, promote the construction of marine equipment and energy equipment; conduct industry development research, reflect industry and member needs to relevant departments, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of members, and propose industry planning, policy, and legislative recommendations.
2. Provide consulting services related to the industry in areas such as law, policy, information, technology, management, and markets; hold industry development conferences; undertake domestic and international industry product exhibitions, trade fairs, and product promotion events as entrusted by the China Association for Science and Technology of the Pacific or according to market and industry development needs.
3. Collect, analyze, and publish industry information, and conduct statistics as authorized; organize the compilation of reference materials on industry technology, economy, operation, and management; establish industry websites to provide members with domestic and international economic, technical, and market information, and help develop domestic and international markets.
4. Participate in formulating and revising national or industry product standards, service standards, and industry access standards, and organize their implementation; organize the translation, distribution, and promotion of relevant standards from the same international industries.
5. Organize research and promotion of new technologies, new processes, new materials, and new products; organize technical exchanges and cooperation; promote technological innovation and management innovation to improve industry production technology levels and international competitiveness.
6. Organize training in industry talent, technology, vocations, management, regulations, etc.; guide and assist member units in improving operations and management.
7. Contact domestic and international peer industry organizations and carry out various forms of domestic and international economic and technological exchanges and cooperation.
8. With government approval or entrustment, organize the following activities: conduct commendation activities for advanced member enterprises in the industry; undertake scientific and technological achievement appraisal work in the industry; conduct product safety evaluation and system certification for industry enterprises; promote industry credit construction and carry out credit rating evaluation of industry enterprises.
